A multi-vehicle collision at a busy Plano intersection resulted in three hospitalizations after a sport utility vehicle crossed a median and entered oncoming traffic lanes. The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of eastbound East Parker Road and Avenue K.

According to the Plano Police Department, a silver Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center median into the westbound lanes. The vehicle struck a pedestrian standing in the median, throwing the person into the side of another eastbound vehicle.

The SUV then continued eastbound in the wrong direction, crossing Avenue K and colliding with five vehicles that were stopped at a red light.

Police reported that seven vehicles sustained damage in the chain-reaction crash. Emergency responders transported the driver of the Ford Explorer, the pedestrian, and one other motorist to a local hospital for medical treatment. No other injuries were reported at the scene. The current medical conditions of the hospitalized individuals have not been released.

Personnel from the Plano Fire-Rescue department responded to the scene alongside police officers. The Plano Police Traffic Unit is currently investigating the circumstances of the crash. Further details regarding the cause and specific conditions of the injured parties are not yet available.
