The city of Plano has unveiled a series of public gatherings scheduled for September, spanning from Sept. 5 through Sept. 27. The lineup includes cultural celebrations, outdoor markets, pool parties, and annual festivals held across multiple locations in the area.
Events will take place at Haggard Park, Oak Point Park, the Downtown Plano Arts District, The Texas Pool, and the Plano Event Center. The month begins with the Water Lantern Festival 2026 on Sept. 5 and 6 at Haggard Park. Participants receive kits to customize lanterns with personal messages before releasing them during sunset.
The event includes live music, food vendors, professional photography, and a choreographed ceremony involving more than 2,000 attendees.
On Sept. 6, the Downtown Plano Disco Cowgirl Market runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Downtown Plano Arts District. This pop-up market blends western and disco themes, featuring local vendors selling handmade goods and permanent jewelry. Attendees can also visit a hat bar, enjoy sweet treats, and take photos.
The Texas Pool hosts a Labor Day party on Sept. 7 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The facility provides snack bars, barbecue grills, and picnic areas. Visitors are permitted to bring coolers containing food and non-alcoholic beverages. The afternoon schedule includes traditional pool games and a cannonball contest with prizes.
The 47th annual Plano Balloon Festival occurs Sept. 17-20 at Oak Point Park. More than 30 hot-air balloons will be displayed alongside live entertainment on the Main Stage and family activities. Food vendors will offer breakfast burritos, fried Oreos, turkey legs, fresh-squeezed lemonade, chocolate-covered cheesecake, and chicken wings.
