A Plano man is in custody facing murder charges following the discovery of his estranged wife’s body at their residence, with their two young children present at the time.
Jake Bigoni, 37, was arrested on Wednesday, August 12, after officers conducted a welfare check for Eliana Bigoni. The investigation began when a friend reported that Eliana failed to appear for an 8:30 a.m. breakfast and could not be reached by phone.
That same friend informed police the couple was separated and undergoing a divorce, noting Eliana was scheduled to pick up their 2- and 5-year-old children that morning.
Plano Police Officer Jerry Minton stated that officers were alerted to potential safety concerns regarding Bigoni’s history of violent behavior. Upon arriving at The Parker Apartments on the 4700 block of Charles Place around 10:30 a.m., officers encountered Bigoni at his door. He was wearing a shirt with a large stain, which he claimed resulted from cleaning his home.
He told officers Eliana had visited earlier but was not currently there.
Investigators later learned that Bigoni’s mother received a call from her son approximately 30 minutes before the police arrival. In that call, he reportedly said, "I have something to tell you. She's dead. We got in a fight and she's dead." After detaining Bigoni, officers confirmed the stain on his clothing was blood.
