Plano has been ranked as the 16th happiest city in the United States for this year, a result that many local residents say aligns with their daily experiences. The ranking was determined by WalletHub, which evaluated cities using three primary categories: emotional and physical well-being, income and employment stability, and community and environmental factors.
The top three positions in the national list were claimed by Fremont, California; Bismarck, North Dakota; and Scottsdale, Arizona. Within Texas, Austin placed 39th, Irving ranked 70th, and Garland came in at 92nd on the same list.
At Legacy West, shoppers and employees identified several local attributes as drivers of resident satisfaction. These included the demeanor of the people, the quality of shopping venues, and dining options. Mayor John Muns, who grew up in Plano, expressed pride in the city’s standing. He stated that the City Council focuses on healthcare, accessibility, parks, and general quality of life to maintain this status.
Muns noted that long-term residents remain committed to the area for work, living, and education. He described it as gratifying to see continued interest in staying in Plano.
The city has received similar high marks in previous years for safety, park systems, and suitability for raising children. However, not all feedback is uniformly positive. Recent announcements regarding the Dallas Stars arena at Shops at Willow Bend have sparked concerns among some residents about traffic and construction impacts on social media platforms.
