Lyft will offer half-price qualifying rides, bike trips and scooter trips to polling locations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Nov. 3. Dallas is about 18 miles south of Plano. Riders can use the code VOTE26 between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. for 50% off, with savings limited to $10, when traveling to a polling place.
In Dallas County, polling locations are set to be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to the county website. The offer is part of Lyft Up Voting Access, a nonpartisan program run by the company.
Lyft representative Sabiha Nur said the company has provided free or discounted transportation for presidential, midterm and some runoff elections. Nearly 4 million people have used Lyft to travel to polling places, transport ballots or participate in voter registration and related events, Nur said.
During the current election cycle, Lyft is working with the League of Women Voters, National Coalition for Homeless Veterans and Students Learn Students Vote Coalition. Lyft said those partnerships are designed to help older voters, people with disabilities, students, veterans and lower-income communities facing transportation barriers.
