Allen City Facilities Close or Adjust Hours for July 4 Holiday

The city of Allen has released its schedule for Independence Day weekend, outlining which public buildings will close and which will operate on modified timetables. Allen is located approximately 6 miles north of Plano.

According to the city’s website, several major facilities will be completely closed on Friday, July 3. These include Allen City Hall, the Allen Municipal Court, and the Allen Public Library.

On Saturday, July 4, a wider range of services will be suspended. The Allen Animal Shelter, the Police Department Records Division, the Allen Senior Recreation Center, and the Don Rodenbaugh Aquatics Center will not be open. The Allen Public Library will also remain closed for the second day of the holiday.

Recreation centers will see varied status on July 4. The Joe Farmer Recreation Center will be closed. The Edge facility will be shut to the public, though the adjacent skate park will remain accessible. Ford Pool will operate with limited hours, opening from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Course at Watters Creek will have an early closing time, operating from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Regarding library services, the city noted that patrons will not be charged late fees for materials due during the closure period. Essential services such as trash and recycling collection are not expected to be affected by the holiday schedule.
