The University Interscholastic League finalized its annual Lone Star Cup rankings on Wednesday, recognizing high schools across Texas for their combined performance in academics, athletics, music, and spirit during the 2025-26 school year. The award, established in the 1997-98 season, honors one top-performing school in each of the six state classifications.

In Class 5A, Prosper Walnut Grove secured the Lone Star Cup title. The Wildcats are preparing to move to Class 6A competition in the near future. During their final season in the 5A classification, the school defended its boys golf and boys soccer state championships. The boys soccer team completed the season with a perfect 31-0 record. Walnut Grove also earned points through a state runner-up finish in girls soccer, a girls basketball state semifinal appearance, and a boys swim team that placed second at the state meet.

Allen, located approximately 6 miles north of Plano, finished fifth in the overall standings for the fifth consecutive year. The Eagles recorded nine playoff appearances, including state semifinal runs in football and boys soccer. Their boys basketball team reached the regional finals, while team tennis and volleyball each advanced through three playoff rounds. Allen’s wrestling program added a 16th team title in 17 years, and the girls wrestling team placed third at the state tournament. The school also received recognition for district titles in baseball and softball, as well as high marks in robotics and film.

Flower Mound placed second in Class 6A, finishing behind Southlake Carroll. This marks the second consecutive year the Lady Jaguars have finished in the top three. The school earned points from a girls basketball state runner-up finish and a softball team that reached the state semifinals for the second straight year. Additional contributions came from cross country, which placed second at the state meet, and a volleyball team that reached the regional finals. Flower Mound also received high marks for its baseball regional semifinal run, academics, and marching band.

Marcus finished ninth in Class 6A, a significant rise from its 19th-place finish the previous year. The Marauders’ boys water polo team won a 6A state title with a 14-13 victory over Brazoswood, while the girls water polo team advanced to the regional tournament. The boys swim team captured its first-ever state title. Other notable performances included a boys soccer team, a softball team, and a baseball team that made its second consecutive state semifinal appearance.

Other local schools recognized in the top 25 of their respective classifications included Frisco Wakeland in Class 5A and Comal Davenport, Wall, Shiner, and Gordon, who won their respective classifications. Further details on specific point totals for other schools were not provided in the release.
