Kings Stumble in San Antonio
The Sacramento Kings entered Tuesday's contest at the Frost Bank Center seeking a turnaround, but they found themselves outmatched by the host San Antonio Spurs. The visitors, who came into the game with a 0-4 record, were unable to contain the Spurs' offensive firepower.
San Antonio, playing in front of a crowd of 18,354, controlled the pace and the scoreboard, ultimately securing a 130-103 victory that improved their record to 2-2. The disparity in performance was evident early, as the Spurs established a lead they never relinquished.
Early Lead Builds
The game's trajectory was set in the first two periods. San Antonio outscored Sacramento 39-29 in the opening quarter, with Victor Wembanyama making an immediate impact through alley-oop dunks and jump shots. The Spurs extended their advantage in the second quarter, outscoring the Kings 41-25 to take a commanding 80-54 lead into the halftime break.
While Sacramento's De'Andre Hunter provided a spark with several three-pointers and layups, the Spurs' balanced attack, featuring contributions from Devin Vassell and Stephon Castle, kept the Kings at bay. The second half saw a slight dip in scoring for both teams, but the gap remained wide enough to prevent any comeback.
