Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to miss the team’s Week 3 game against Louisiana Tech because of an ankle injury, but a report indicates he could be available for the Big 12 opener against Colorado on Sept. 26.
Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported that Lagway is progressing toward a return for the matchup with the Colorado Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders. The report did not establish that he will play, and his exact return status remains unclear.
Lagway sustained an ankle sprain during Baylor’s 17-16 loss to Auburn in the season opener. He then missed the Bears’ next game, a 44-3 victory over Prairie View A&M.
Baylor coach Dave Aranda previously described Lagway as day to day, according to the report. Another report cited by ClutchPoints said the quarterback had been attempting to play through the injury, while Baylor considered him doubtful for the Prairie View game with conference play approaching.
