The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to contract extensions with receiver Ryan Flournoy and tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford, committing as much as $24 million combined to the two players before either has reached the level of a major breakout season.

Flournoy received a one-year extension worth up to $6 million, keeping him under contract through the 2027 season. He is coming off a 2025 campaign with 40 receptions, 475 receiving yards and four touchdowns, and the report says he is expected to have a larger role as the team’s third receiver.

The receiver’s agreement also provides continuity if George Pickens departs after the current season, according to the report. Flournoy is described as capable of lining up at all three receiver positions used in the Cowboys’ 11-personnel formations.

Spann-Ford agreed to a three-year extension worth up to $18 million, including $12.075 million guaranteed. The deal keeps the tight end under contract through 2029. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and had been competing with Luke Schoonmaker for playing time behind Jake Ferguson.

The report says Spann-Ford’s development during the 2026 training camp increased expectations for his role. It also identifies him as a blocking tight end who had already been pushing for additional snaps last season.

The Cowboys have previously waited to offer major extensions until players had already produced breakout seasons. The report cites five-year deals for Terence Steele worth $82.5 million after 2022, and Jaylon Smith worth $63.75 million after 2018. Dak Prescott, Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland also received extensions after establishing themselves among the NFL’s top players at their positions.

The two new agreements represent a change toward making earlier, lower-cost commitments based on projected development. Whether Flournoy or Spann-Ford reaches the expected level of production is not yet clear.
