The Houston Texans increased the maximum value of offensive tackle Trent Brown's 2026 incentive package from $1.5 million to $2.5 million, according to details posted by Spotrac's Michael Ginnitti on September 16. The adjustment does not change Brown's salary-cap charge or initial cash flow, according to Over The Cap's Troy Chapman.
The revised deal includes $500,000 playing-time bonuses at five thresholds: 50%, 55%, 60%, 65% and 70% of the team's snaps. Brown played 41% of the Texans' snaps during the 2025 season.
Brown returned to the Texans during the 2026 offseason on a one-season contract worth $5.5 million. He joined the team after starting seven regular-season games and one playoff game in 2025, a campaign that began and ended with injuries.
The Texans also signed offensive tackle Braden Smith to a two-year, $20 million contract during free agency. Smith has since dealt with injuries and was placed on injured reserve, while Brown remained with the team through the offseason program and started at right tackle in Week 1.
Brown has not started every regular-season game in a season since 2022, when he played for the New England Patriots. He was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2015 draft and has also played for the Cincinnati Bengals and Las Vegas Raiders. Brown has started 104 of the 111 games he has appeared in during his career.
