The Dallas Cowboys have added linebackers Curtis Robinson and Justin Barron to the active roster for their Week 2 game against the Washington Commanders. Both players were elevated from the practice squad ahead of Dallas’ home opener.
The moves come as DeMarvion Overshown is expected to miss time because of a hamstring injury. The Cowboys have not provided a timetable for his return. Robinson and Barron also give Dallas options on special teams, and the team chose the practice-squad route instead of signing a veteran for this game.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer said rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham will wear the green-dot helmet in Overshown’s absence. The designation is part of the team’s defensive communication setup.
Dallas enters the matchup after losing to the New York Giants, 28-20, in Week 1. The NFL later fined three Cowboys players from that game: Javonte Williams received an $11,941 penalty for taunting, outside linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku was fined $11,941 for a facemask, and Overshown was fined $9,527 for a late hit on quarterback Jaxson Dart.
The Cowboys’ linebackers and safeties are expected to face a test against Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels and the Commanders’ offense. Former Cowboys player DeMarcus Ware also discussed the potential impact of Von Miller, who played 11 snaps in his Dallas debut after playing for Washington last season. Ware and Miller previously won Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos.
