DeGrom's Dominance Not Enough
The Texas Rangers saw their efforts fall just short on Thursday night, losing 4-3 to the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. The game featured one of the most impressive individual pitching performances of the season by Rangers starter Jacob deGrom, who retired the first 15 batters he faced before allowing a hit.
DeGrom pitched six scoreless innings, striking out 12 Mariners while allowing only a single hit and no walks. His performance kept Texas in the game for nearly two-thirds of the contest, but it was not enough to overcome Seattle’s late offensive surge. The Rangers finished with a record of 72-75, while the Mariners improved to 69-78.
Early Runs Set the Tone
Seattle took an early lead in the third inning when Pederson homered to right center, measuring 385 feet. The blast drove in Lopez, giving the Mariners a 2-0 advantage. Texas responded in the fifth inning as Lopez reached on a bunt single to the pitcher, allowing Carter to score and putting Burger in scoring position at second base. This run cut the deficit to 3-0.
Late Rally Shifts Momentum
The game remained tight through six innings until the seventh, when Seattle’s offense broke open the contest. Canzone singled to left field, bringing Arozarena home for a 3-1 score. Moments later, Rodríguez launched a 410-foot home run to left center, driving in both Canzone and Raleigh to extend the lead to 4-3.
