PLANO, Texas – Five defendants were sentenced to a total of 903 months in federal prison during June in the Eastern District of Texas as part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF), U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs announced.
The HSTF is a whole-of-government partnership established by Executive Order 14159 to eliminate criminal cartels, foreign gangs, and transnational criminal organizations. The initiative focuses on investigating and prosecuting crimes involving child trafficking and removing violent criminal aliens from the United States.
On June 9, 2026, David Ortiz-Moreno, 55, a Mexican national illegally living in Fate, Texas, was sentenced to 170 months for conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine. Prosecutors stated he was responsible for distributing at least 50 grams of the drug.
On June 10, 2026, Abrahan Solano-Zarate, 42, a Mexican national illegally living in Dallas, received 168 months for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine. He distributed at least five kilograms of cocaine. Also on June 10, Jose Pedro Guzman, Jr., 35, of Corrigan, was sentenced to 130 months for drug trafficking violations related to a methamphetamine conspiracy.
On June 15, 2026, Juan Lopez-Carmona, 32, a Mexican national illegally living in Dallas, was sentenced to 270 months for trafficking methamphetamine. He was responsible for moving large amounts of illegal narcotics from Mexico to the United States for redistribution.
