Adult content creator Cherie DeVille has publicly stated that Bank of America closed all of her financial accounts, including both personal and business lines, without any indication of illegal activity or unpaid debts. DeVille, who is based in Plano, described the move as being driven exclusively by her profession rather than any financial misconduct or fraud on her part.

DeVille emphasized that she operates a lawful enterprise, pays applicable taxes, and employs staff. She argued that her long-standing relationship with the bank and her strong credit history should not be disregarded simply because of the nature of her industry. She noted that her situation reflects a wider phenomenon known as "debanking," where individuals in legal but socially controversial fields struggle to maintain access to traditional financial services.

The creator pointed out that this issue has reached the attention of federal leadership. She referenced an executive order signed by President Donald Trump aimed at protecting legal businesses from losing banking access due to personal disapproval of their industry. DeVille clarified that while the order was not specifically targeted at her sector, it underscores the principle that lawful operations should not be penalized by financial institutions based on subjective judgments.

Although DeVille reported that she has since secured banking services elsewhere, she acknowledged that this outcome is not guaranteed for everyone in similar situations. She shared her experience to raise awareness about the frequency of such account closures and to encourage others to share their own experiences. She stressed that if these closures can occur to someone with her financial standing and history, it highlights the vulnerability faced by many others in comparable positions.

Bank of America employs about 6,566 people in Plano, according to local government records.
