Bank of America is introducing a significant overhaul of its Travel Center, aiming to modernize the experience for customers who book trips using their credit card rewards. The updated platform, which went live on July 28, 2026, represents one of the most substantial changes to the issuer's travel services in recent years.

The redesign is powered by Booking.com’s Rocket Travel technology, formerly known as Agoda. This partnership allows Bank of America to integrate expanded inventory for both flights and hotels directly into its portal. The goal is to provide cardholders with more competitive options that rival dedicated travel sites like Chase Travel and American Express Travel.

Key enhancements include more comprehensive hotel details, such as amenity lists and guest reviews. Search functionality has also been improved, allowing users to filter results by price, timing, and specific features. Additionally, the portal now supports mixed-airline itineraries, enabling travelers to book different carriers for outbound and return legs of a journey.

Financial flexibility is another central component of the update. Cardholders can now combine their credit card rewards with a direct payment method, such as a debit or credit card, to cover remaining balances. This option provides greater adaptability for those who do not have enough points to cover an entire trip cost.

Access to the redesigned Travel Center requires an eligible Bank of America credit card. The issuer highlighted the Bank of America Premium Rewards Elite Credit Card as a primary option for users seeking to maximize travel benefits, noting that it includes statement credits for travel purchases.

While the expanded inventory and new tools are intended to make booking easier, the actual value of the portal will depend on pricing competitiveness and overall user experience. It remains unclear how these changes compare directly to other major credit card travel portals in terms of cost savings or ease of use until more customers begin utilizing the system.

Bank of America employs about 6,566 people in Plano, according to local government records.
