Toyota Motor North America, whose headquarters anchors a large corporate campus in Plano, has revealed a refreshed 2027 Sequoia full-size SUV, adding a new off-road Trailhunter package, updated styling and a broader suite of in-vehicle technology. The company employs about 4,938 people at its Plano headquarters, making the automaker one of the city's largest private employers.
The updated Sequoia will be offered in six grades: SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro and Capstone. Toyota said the vehicle was styled by its CALTY Design Research studio, with connected-vehicle technology developed with Toyota Connected North America.
A new Trailhunter package
The headline addition is the Trailhunter package, which Toyota is making available on the SR5 grade. Aimed at overlanding and long-distance backcountry travel, it is built around Old Man Emu suspension, 18-inch bronze-finish wheels wrapped in Michelin LTX Trail tires sized 265/70R18, front recovery hooks and added underbody protection.
The package also bundles Toyota's off-road driving aids, including Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control and a locking rear differential, along with Trailhunter-specific badging.
Restyled exterior
The 2027 model gets a reworked front end that Toyota describes as sharper and more horizontal, with rectangular fog lights set into the bumper and a grille-mounted LED light bar. Available RIGID-brand fog lights round out the exterior lighting options.
