The City of Plano is showcasing a proposal to relocate the Dallas Stars hockey team to the Willow Bend District. Local officials are inviting residents and media to view the plans for a new arena and surrounding entertainment complex that could eventually replace the team's current home at Victory Park in Dallas.
Public events are scheduled to allow community members to review the development details. A community open house will take place on Wednesday, June 8, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. A second session is set for Tuesday, July 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Both gatherings will be held at The Shops at Willow Bend, with attendees directed to enter near the Equinox and Crate & Barrel stores.
In addition to the in-person meetings, the city is offering a self-guided virtual tour of the proposed site. This digital option will remain available for viewing until July 22, providing an alternative for those unable to attend the physical events.
The proposal aims to create a destination similar to the entertainment district surrounding the Arlington arena. The city is actively recruiting the Stars to move to Plano, noting that the Dallas Mavericks also plan to depart Victory Park after 2030.
City leaders have already taken preliminary steps to support the project. The Plano City Council voted unanimously last month to advance the arena proposal. The next phase of the development process involves traffic modeling to assess how the new facility would impact local roadways and congestion.
