Universal Kids Resort officially opened on Wednesday, July 1, in Frisco, Texas. The new attraction marks the first regional theme park for Universal Destinations & Experiences, the company behind the major Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort locations. Frisco is located approximately 12 miles northwest of Plano.
The 20-acre park is designed specifically for families with young children, particularly those between the ages of 3 and 8, though it remains open to visitors of all ages. It features seven themed lands based on popular entertainment franchises, including Minions, Shrek, SpongeBob SquarePants, Gabby’s Dollhouse, Trolls, and Jurassic World.
The resort includes 13 rides tailored for younger guests. Notable attractions include Shrek and Fiona’s Happily Ogre After, an outdoor track ride aimed at the youngest visitors, and Swings Over Del Mar, a seated swing ride with a 42-inch height requirement. Other rides include Rhonda’s TrollsFest Express. Each of the seven lands offers character encounters, food options, and retail outlets.
Molly Murphy, president of Universal Creative, described the resort as a gateway to the company’s immersive storytelling for a new generation of fans. Brian Robinson, chief creative officer of Universal Destinations & Experiences, stated that the park celebrates iconic characters through new experiences.
