Ranchman’s by Marty B, a historic café in Ponder, Texas, has reopened its doors following a nearly six-year hiatus. Located at 110 W. Bailsy St., the restaurant is situated approximately six miles west of I-35W. The establishment has undergone extensive renovations, including a large Western-themed saloon, a spacious patio with a capacity for 500 guests, and a music stage.
Originally opened in the mid-1940s, Ranchman’s has a rich history dating back to 1903. Local restaurateur Marty Bryan, who owns several dining venues including Marty B’s in Bartonville, purchased the café and preserved its oak-paneled dining room from a 1951 remodel. The restaurant features memorabilia from the Oscar-nominated film “Bonnie & Clyde.”
The reopening drew a significant crowd, with patrons lining up shortly after the doors opened at 3 p.m. on a recent weekend. The menu has been expanded to include new items like hand-packed burgers and pies made from Bryan’s mother’s recipes, while still offering traditional favorites such as griddled steaks and large chicken-fried steaks. Bryan stated, "We’re basically cooking the food the way they always cooked it."
Future plans for the restaurant, including the potential opening of a Marty B’s Ice Cream, remain unclear. The previous owner, Dave Ross, retired after two decades at Ranchman’s, having acquired it from co-founder Grace “Pete” Jackson in 1992.
