The Big 12 Conference is hosting its annual media days at The Star, the headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys, in Frisco. Frisco is located approximately 12 miles northwest of Plano. The event provides the first official public look at the Baylor Bears ahead of the upcoming season.
Baylor has confirmed the roster of athletes who will participate in the media sessions. The list of attendees includes quarterback DJ Lagway, defensive end Kyler Jordan, defensive back Michael Allen, defensive tackle Jamaal Whyce Jr., tight end Matthew Klopfenstein, and linebacker Kyland Reed.
The conference schedule places Baylor’s media appearances on Tuesday, July 7. During this session, the Bears will be joined by representatives from Arizona State, BYU, UCF, Colorado, Houston, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech. The following day, Wednesday, July 8, features media appearances from Arizona, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, TCU, Utah, and West Virginia.
Head coach Dave Aranda is a central figure for the program as he enters his seventh Big 12 media day. The team did not qualify for a bowl game last season, leading to speculation regarding Aranda’s future with the program.
Offensive changes are also under scrutiny. Lagway, a transfer from Florida who committed to Baylor in January, has taken over the quarterback position from Sawyer Robertson. Offensive coordinator Jake Spavital is in his third year with the team and aims to sustain the high-ranking offense from previous seasons.
