The Aggies (2-0) used a balanced offensive attack and a ferocious defensive showing to overcome a resilient Sun Devils squad that had kept the game competitive through three quarters.

Arizona State (1-1) entered the fourth quarter trailing 24-20, but could not match the Aggies' momentum. Texas A&M’s defense intercepted Arizona State quarterback Cutter Boley twice in the final frame, turning those turnovers into immediate points. Marco Jones returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown, followed by Julio Humphrey’s 45-yard pick-six, effectively ending any chance of a comeback.

Offensive efficiency drives early lead

Texas A&M established control early with help from quarterback Marcel Reed, who completed 15 of 25 passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns. Reed connected with Isaiah Horton twice, including a four-yard score in the second quarter that extended the Aggies' lead to 14-7 after Rueben Owens II’s one-yard run had given Texas A&M an initial advantage.

Despite throwing for 254 yards and two touchdowns, Boley’s performance was marred by two interceptions. His first pass went to Reed Harris, who hauled in nine receptions for 189 yards and two scores, including a 58-yard touchdown in the third quarter that briefly narrowed the gap to 20-24.

Arizona State’s rushing attack, led by Kyson Brown’s 66 yards on 13 carries, failed to generate sustained drives in critical moments. The Sun Devils managed field goals from Carson Smith in the second and third quarters but could not sustain scoring drives when it mattered most.
