The new series "Dutton Ranch," a sequel to "Yellowstone," was filmed entirely across North Texas, showcasing the region's landscapes. The production took place between August 2025 and March 2026, utilizing various locations including Ferris, Boyd, Cleburne, Grandview, Weatherford, Rio Vista, Mineral Wells, Fort Worth, and Dallas. Ferris, located about 34 miles south of Plano, played a significant role in the filming process.
The series premiered on May 15, 2026, and quickly became the biggest original series launch in Paramount+ history, attracting 12.9 million viewers in its first week. The show features a cast that includes Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Ed Harris, among others.
The production was made possible in part due to Texas's Moving Image Industry Incentive Program, which provides cash grants to qualifying film and television projects based on their spending in the state. This initiative supports local economies by benefiting location crews, equipment vendors, hotels, and small businesses.
Paramount+ has confirmed a second season of "Dutton Ranch," although a premiere date has yet to be announced.
