Nimmo Delivers Decisive Hit

Jake Nimmo’s single to center field in the ninth inning provided the winning run, lifting the Texas Rangers to a 6-5 victory over the Houston Astros on Sunday. The play sent Langford home with the go-ahead run, securing the win for Arlington despite a resilient effort from Houston’s bullpen and lineup.

Astros Strike Early

Houston established an early advantage in the second inning. Jose Altuve’s home run to left center in the fourth inning had previously narrowed the gap, but the Astros built a lead earlier in the game. In the second, Adolis Garcia’s double to right drove in two runs, putting Houston ahead 3-0. The Astros added another run in the fifth when Nimmo’s triple to right allowed a run to score, making it 4-1. In the seventh, a sacrifice fly by Corey Seager brought home another run, extending the lead to 4-2 before the Rangers began their rally.

Rangers Rally in Later Innings

The Texas Rangers chipped away at the deficit in the eighth inning. Josh Smith homered to left, cutting the margin to 4-3. Shortly after, Nick Martinez homered to left, tying the game at 4-4. The momentum shifted in the ninth when Nimmo’s single loaded the bases, setting the stage for the winning run.

Pitching and Final Score

Houston’s pitching staff struggled to maintain the lead. Josh Hader took the loss after entering the game with runners on base. The Astros’ bullpen included Enyel De Los Santos, Bryan Abreu, Steven Okert, and Bryan King, but could not prevent the Rangers from taking the lead. For Texas, Jacob Latz earned the win, pitching a scoreless inning to close out the game. MacKenzie Gore started for the Rangers, pitching four innings and allowing one earned run. Tyler Alexander and Cole Winn provided relief, with Winn recording the save. The final score of 6-5 gave the Rangers their winning record, improving to 49-47, while the Astros fell to 47-51. The game drew an attendance of 33,804 at Globe Life Field.
