The animated series "King of the Hill" has returned to Hulu for its 15th season, with Richardson prominently featured as the inspiration for the fictional town of Arlen. All ten episodes were released on July 20, and the show has already been renewed for two additional seasons.
Co-creator Mike Judge, who lived in Richardson during the 1990s, has previously noted that Arlen is modeled after the city. While Arlen is a blend of various Dallas-area suburbs, its essence captures the character of mid-century suburban life, including wide streets and backyard grills.
This season, the connection to Richardson is more explicit, as it includes the University of Texas at Dallas, located on West Campbell Road in the Telecom Corridor. The university's mascot, Temoc, and the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering make appearances in the episodes.
Other recognizable North Texas landmarks also feature in the season, including scenes of Hank fixing the waving arm of Big Tex at the State Fair of Texas, along with a cameo by Whataburger.
The storyline follows Hank and Peggy as they navigate retirement, while their son Bobby, now an adult, operates a fusion restaurant in Dallas and aims for a spot on a cooking reality show.
