Angels’ Early Dominance Collapses
The Los Angeles Angels held a commanding 5-1 lead entering the seventh inning, fueled by strong offensive production and early pitching struggles from Texas. Los Angeles jumped out to an early advantage in the first inning when Nimmo homered to left center and Burger singled to drive Jung home. The Angels extended their lead in the third inning, with Trout grounding out to score Meckler, followed by Duran’s two-run homer to center that put Los Angeles up 4-1.
Foscue added to the Angels’ offensive output in the fourth inning with a solo home run to center. In the sixth, a ground-rule double by Foscue allowed Cauley to score, pushing the lead to 6-1. For much of the game, the Angels’ pitching staff kept the Rangers at bay, with Reid Detmers working through four innings despite allowing five earned runs on seven hits. Chase Silseth, Brent Suter, Ryan Zeferjahn, and Sam Bachman each contributed shutout innings, preserving the substantial advantage.
Rangers Rally in Seventh
Texas began chipping away at the deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning. Meckler singled to right to score Guzman, making it 6-2. Schanuel followed with a single to center that scored Meckler and Neto, bringing the Rangers within one run at 6-4. Soler then singled to center to score Trout, narrowing the gap to 6-5. Adell’s single to left scored Schanuel, tying the game at 6-6 and shifting the momentum entirely.
