Angels Pitching Holds Early, But Offense Struggles
The Los Angeles Angels entered Wednesday’s contest at Globe Life Field hoping to stifle the Texas Rangers, and their starting pitcher Jose Soriano delivered a solid performance through the early innings. Soriano worked six innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits while striking out four batters. He was supported by relievers Tayler Saucedo, who pitched one inning and took the blow, and Sam Bachman, who struggled in relief, giving up five earned runs in just two-thirds of an inning to take the loss.
Despite the pitching staff’s efforts, the Angels’ offense managed only three runs. Soler’s first-inning double drove in Schanuel for the first run, but the team failed to generate consistent power or momentum throughout the game. The Angels’ bullpen, including Brent Suter, closed out the game but could not prevent the final deficit.
Rangers Overcome Early Deficit with Late Surge
The Texas Rangers faced a 2-2 tie entering the seventh inning before Meckler’s single brought home Peraza to give Texas a 3-2 lead. However, the Angels quickly answered with Foscue’s home run to tie the game at 3-3. The decisive moment came in the eighth inning when the Rangers mounted a five-run rally.
Duran’s single scored Smith, followed by Foscue’s single that brought Burger home. The inning was capped by Osuna’s three-run home run to right field, which extended the Rangers’ lead to 8-3. This explosive eighth inning proved to be the difference, as the Rangers’ pitching held the Angels scoreless in the final frame.
