Social Foodie, a restaurant-discovery app from Plano-based 712 West, has added diner ratings that appear alongside recommendations from food creators.

The company announced the feature on Sept. 21. Users can adopt a creator’s rating or choose their own from the app’s six rating categories. Restaurants and individual dishes can receive separate scores.

The update also adds a comparison between a creator’s assessment and aggregated diner ratings. On restaurant and dish pages, users can switch between the two groups to see how their opinions differ, according to the company’s announcement.

Diner feedback is shown as a combined rating, vote count and distribution rather than as individual reviewer profiles. Users may change their rating after another visit. The app’s save function remains separate from its ratings.

712 West lists Plano as its location and identifies Social Foodie as one of its products. The app’s worldwide launch was announced July 22; the September release is a product update rather than a new launch.

Details are available in Social Foodie’s update announcement and on the developer’s website.
